Call for tattoos update:

 Thanks to everyone who sent us pictures of their Clowes tattoos! We've wrapped up the book project and no longer need submissions for it.

However, we will continue to post your tattoos in our Eightball Ink Flickr gallery. So keep sending your photos and check back for updates.

In addition to the tattoos, we had so much so much outstanding material for our book that we couldn't include it all. The good news is we'll be posting a lot of interesting Clowes art and related material in the coming months in anticipation of the book’s April 2012 release.

As we wrap up the forthcoming volume, The Art of Daniel Clowes: Modern Cartoonist, the first monograph on the celebrated cartoonist and author of Ghost World, David Boring, Ice Haven, Wilson, Mister Wonderful, and The Death-Ray, we are asking readers to help us out...

We are scouring the globe for Clowes comics inspired ink for the book. Do you or a friend sport a tattoo with Clowes related art, perhaps of the alluring Enid or the elusive Mr. Jones?? If so, we want to hear from you!

From the Vault: Unpublished Bill Murray Portrait

Last August, a full-page portrait of Bill Murray appeared in GQ magazine. Above is Clowes's unpublished first version, and below it's paired with the printed illustration. The original art for both of these images will be included in the massive Clowes exhibition at Fumetto this April.

Daniel Clowes at Fumetto: April 2011

Daniel Clowes will be the special guest at Fumetto in Lucerne, Switzerland. The festival takes place from April 9 – 17 and will feature an exhibition of Clowes's art curated by Susan Miller.

Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss

On January 18th Criterion released Sam Fuller's Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss. Both DVDs feature Clowes covers and interior illustrations.
